Passion project
Being a philosophy lover, I realised there are not many apps that that offer both audio and reading formats specifically for philosophy only. From this the idea was born to create an app targeted at people with a hunger for knowledge and enthusiasm for philosophy. What differs this from a more general audio books app is the specific target audience the community around that. Various studies have shown friends and romantic partners tend to share core beliefs, values and hobbies; people tend to be attracted to those with similar physical interests and features; and some research suggests people go for others with likeminded personalities.
Philosophy made simple but with a modern take and right at your fingertips. Knowly lets you share and discover your favorite philosophers and books as readers. This project is the result of a personal interest in philosophy and is an ongoing project.
Problem
After doing a competitive analysis it became clear there are no applications that provide content in different ways other than reading. Reading such complex theories on your phone can not only strain your eyesight, but we are also busy people living busy lives and users prefer to consume content in different ways that suits their needs.
Goal
A playful way to have all your preferred literature and other great thinkers in one place. Often, philosophy apps today look a bit outdated. The goal of this app is to combine modern day philosophers with the old masters while maintaining an easy to use and personal overview making the option available to listen to audio or read.
Solution
Knowly is the mobile app for book lovers who prefer listening over reading - or readers who are commuting on crowded trains, and listening to a book is more feasible than looking down at your phone all the time.
Idea
What’s the only thing almost as good as reading? Sharing all your favourite things about all your favourite philosophers with friends. Knowly lets you share and discover your favourite philosophers and books as readers.
